I built my AI entrepreneurism - inelegantly - while figuring it out in public.
The best decision I made was refusing to wait for permission.
I tried to find mentors and guides, but there weren't enough women on the educator —> consultant —> entrepreneur track. So I (inelegantly again) built my own damn path, brick by brick.
Done is better than perfect is my mantra. Hit send, publish, post. Do it scared.
Now - three epic years later - I know how to evolve from layperson to educator to consultant to founder to multi-passionate AI entrepreneur without the guesswork.
You can: Work a reasonable number of hours, not a crazy amount. You'll identify great partnerships, make solid agreements, and build long-lasting, mutually beneficial, lucrative collaborations. You'll always be the expert in the loop. And make a fabulous income.

Leaning Into AI Entrepreneurism
Hosting Zoom events to teach what I was learning about AI was the first big step. Over a few months, hundreds of people showed up… and then went back to organizations with zero AI policies.
That didn't seem like a good idea.
So I started helping organizations with AI governance.
(Wait - before I continue, you should know that YES, I've delivered a workshop to a completely empty Zoom screen. No one showed up, but the show must go on. I'd rather speak to a football stadium full of distracted fans.)
Then I developed an offer including an AI Readiness Assessment, AI Academy, AI Policy (and Council when appropriate), and custom solutions for operational efficiency. (OMG that sounds so FANCY!) Pricing came next. And then the fun part: a fine-tuned sales operation.
BUILDING MOMENTUM: Along the way, I launched a led the beta cohort for the AI and HR program with the behemoth that is the Society for HR Managers, hosted a weekly live show, recorded over 35 podcast episodes so far, gathered women for regular virtual events, and even pulled off the CREATE in-person conference.
The whole time, I was looking for other women doing this work so I could learn from them.
And I couldn't find anyone.
